He's the King of the World!

So, seriously, this is one of the most amazing things almost thus far....and, true to form, it just sort of snuck up on us...so slowly that we didn't hardly realize it....until last night it occurred to me...my kid is fully potty trained! Finally!

We've been chipping away at it for just about 9 years now...against all odds....against the pediatrician's advice....when everyone thought we were crazy and should just give up......He did it! Just like that....he figured it out.

Now, we've had pee for years...since 2nd grade to be exact...but poo has been a constant trial. Part of the problem is his apparent inability to feel that sense of full. Both stomach and bowels....until about 18 months ago...when he suddenly started magically eating less.

Like a lot less.

He lost 20 pounds in 3 months!

His pediatrician had a conniption - but his D.A.N. doctor and cardiologist were thrilled!

After that...he slowly started gaining feeling in his bowels. He started initiating toileting more and more often...and BEFORE he had gotten started...which had been the problem for many, many years.

Last night I suddenly realized...after watching him fly down the hall to the bathroom and go poo unprompted and completely independent, that I haven't had to deal with messy shorts in 3 to 6 weeks!

That's when it dawned on me....he's got it! Against all odds and so very many naysayers....he did it.

So very proud of my little man. It might take us a little-or in this case a lot-longer than most...but, by God, we get there!

Congratulations my sweet boy. I knew you could do it! (Now let's keep doing it...okay?!)
